Costa Rican volcano erupts again

Posted by Ren on January 19, 2012 at 11:00 PM

The Turrialba Volcano which erupted on the 12th erupted again yesterday just after 3pm local time releasing a burst of ash and gases which was witnessed by residents in the Turrialba and Cartago area. The ash plume was reported to be drifting towards Ochomogo and it was estimated that the plume had reached the height of 14,000-20,000 ft.

An overflight was conducted at the time and photos of the eruption were taken. A video was also taken at the summit area and it showed a plume of ash originating from the same vent which produced the 12th January eruption.
